Rangers' Yu Darvish: "No one has any right to judge"

Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish, who hasn’t won his past four starts and allowed five runs in five innings Wednesday, was asked, in light of seemingly everyone having an opinion about his season, what his thoughts on his season are.

His answer was, well, direct.

"No one has any right to judge how I pitch," Darvish said. "I know I’ve been pitching my best performance."

Darvish, who is 12-7 with a 2.91 ERA and leads the majors with 240 strikeouts, will pitch again Monday against Pittsburgh. He has been dogged in three straight starts, beginning Aug. 18 vs. Seattle, for an inability to shut down games late. He surrendered 2-0 leads in consecutive starts Aug. 24 and Aug. 30.

A debate was sparked about if Darvish is indeed an ace pitcher.
