David Murphy didn't take long to describe his season.
"I feel like I've been in a five-month slump," said Murphy, batting .221 this season. "But that's not going to change the amount of fight that's in me. I know that I might not get the amount of playing time down the stretch that I'd like, but I still feel like I can help the team and contribute when I get a chance."
The playing time has already started to dwindle for Murphy, and manager Ron Washington made it clear that he is going to ride the hot bats down the stretch. That means Jim Adduci is starting tonight against Pirates right-hander Gerrit Cole.
Adduci is hitting .375 over his first six games since being promoted to the big leagues, and appears to be the new platoon mate for Craig Gentry in left field.
