John Bearrie, an Arlington resident who qualified earlier this week to compete in the U.S. Mid-Amateur, grabbed the first round lead in today's opening round of the Texas Golf Association's North Texas Amateur event in Garland. Bearrie fired an opening 65 and leads by four strokes.
