Fort Worth native Hunter Haas and Ian Leggatt, a former Texas Wesleyan golfer, will be among the competitors in this week's season-opening event for the 2009 Nationwide Tour -- the Panama Digicel Championship. The opening round is set for Thursday in Panama City, Panama.
Haas, a two-time winner on the Nationwide Tour, finished 27th on last season's money list with $209,461. Leggatt, winner of the 2002 Tucson Open on the PGA Tour, placed 111th on last year's Nationwide Tour money list ($42,184).
This week's event is the first of four stops outside the U.S. to begin the 2009 season. The Nationwide Tour also has one event in Australia and two in New Zealand before competitors head to the U.S. for the Chitimacha Louisiana Open in Broussard, La. (March 26-29).
