Colonial receives award for clean air initiative at tournament

Officials at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial received  recognition today from the North Texas Clean Air Coalition for being a local business attuned to environmental issues. The NTCAC awarded tournament officials with a Clean Air Partner Award for having a wind- and solar-powered skybox, run by TCU’s Institute for Environmental Studies, at Fort Worth’s PGA Tour stop in May. It marked the first skybox run by “green” energy at a PGA Tour event.

First Tee charity event rescheduled because of rain

Because of today’s storms, the Fort Worth Golf Pro-Am _ benefitting the First Tee of Fort Worth _ has been postponed until Oct. 23 at Rockwood Golf Course. The event, originally scheduled for today, will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start on Oct. 23 at Rockwood.

Tierra Verde to host 2010 Texas Public Links event

Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington has been selected as the venue for the 2010 Texas Public Links Championships, officials at the Texas Golf Association announced Friday. The tournament will be held June 3-6, 2010.
