Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells, an Arlington Bowie graduate, will host a charity event Nov. 14-15 to benefit the Pro Players Foundation, which assists single mothers and children in need. The two-day event includes a Nov. 14 dinner and auction in Southlake, with a Nov. 15 celebrity golf tournament at Trophy Club Country Club. Among the confirmed celebrity golfers are Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips, Texas Rangers president Nolan Ryan and former Cowboys’ quarterback Roger Staubach.
