D-FW long drivers qualify for world championship event

Five golfers from Dallas-Fort Worth have qualified for the Re/Max World Long Drive Championship, Oct. 27 through Nov. 5 in Mesquite, Nev.

Mike Carlson, an Addison resident, qualified in the open division (356 yards). He will be joined by McKinney’s Drew Garzillo (343 yards) and Mat  Vilade (326 yards). Another McKinney resident, Craig Hagen, advanced in the senior division (325 yards). Plano native Preston Collich, a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Rucker (Ala.), advanced in the Military Long Drive Championship with a blast of 323 yards.
