Saginaw resident Angela Stanford, a former TCU golfer and the tournament leader heading into today's final round of the LPGA Founders Cup, just posted a closing 75 to finish alone in fifth place at the tournament in Phoenix.
Stanford led by three strokes heading into the final round but collected only one birdie _ as well as four bogeys _ in her final round after posting consecutive efforts of 66-66 to charge into the lead. Stanford was overtaken in the final round by winner Karrie Webb, who posted a closing 66 of her own to finish at 12-under par for the 54-hole event.
The top five finishers, with their closing rounds and tournament totals: Webb (66, 12-under); Paula Creamer (66, 11-under); Brittany Lincicome (70, 11-under); Cristie Kerr (69, 10-under) and Angela Stanford (75, 9-under).
