PGA Tour officials announced they have lifted the weather delay at Colonial, which has been ongoing for more than two hours, and will resume play at 5:15 p.m.
Play was suspended at 2:50 p.m. because of lightning in the area. The Colonial course took on some rain during the delay, so it will be interesting to see which golfers can take advantage of rain-softened greens when play resumes.
Golfers are heading out to the range to begin warm-ups now. As things stand, David Toms holds a three-stroke lead over a three-player group that includes Rickie Fowler, Charlie Wi and Steven Bowditch.
Toms, a co-leader after Thursday's opening round, is at 12-under par for the tournament -- 4-under today -- with eight holes remaining. He will resume his round on the 11th hole when play resumes.
Fowler, who posted an opening 63, is 9-under for the tournament and has 12 holes remaining in his second round. He will resume play at No. 7.
Wi and Bowditch completed their second rounds this morning, before the delay. Both are at 9-under.
Fort Worth resident Rory Sabbatini, the 2007 Colonial champ, made a big move during today's second round. He posted a 64 before the delay and stands at 8-under, with 36 holes complete.
Today's weather delay will last 2 hours, 25 minutes. When play resumes, golfers near the top of the leaderboard with holes remaining include Rod Pampling (7-under), Mark Wilson (7-under) and Chez Reavie (7-under).
Because of the delay, several golfers probably will be unable to complete second-round play today. That will require the 36-hole cut to be made tomorrow morning, with the third round to begin as soon as possible thereafter.
