Deadline approaching to enter Texas State Open

Golfers who plan to enter the 2011 Texas State Open are nearing the deadline for entries.

All entries must be received by officials at the Northern Texas PGA Wednesday, June 8 at 5 p.m. CDT.  Entries may be sent to the NTPGA via mail, online, facsimile, overnight carrier, or in person by this time.

The Texas State Open, sponsored by Chesapeake Energy, is scheduled for Thursday, July 14 – Sunday, July 17 at The Cascades Club in Tyler, Texas.

Background information about the tournament is below:

The 72-hole stroke play event will consist of 144 professionals and amateurs playing for a projected purse of $135,000.00.  The field will play 36-holes before the cut to the low 50 scores and ties.  Unless otherwise exempt, professionals and amateurs may enter the Texas State Open via an 18-hole qualifying event conducted at 20 Texas sites in June.

The field will be comprised of successful qualifiers and the following exempt players, if they choose to participate: past champions, top 15 professionals and ties from the 2010 Texas State Open, top 3 amateurs and ties from the 2010 Texas State Open, top 15 NTPGA and STPGA Members from the 2010 final Player of the Year Point Standings from each Section, PGA A-3 Members who are residents of the state of Texas, championship host professional, ten leading money winners on the 2011 NTPGA Players Tour, top three leading money winners from Adams Golf Pro Tour 2010-2011 Winter Series, and the first 15 professionals to bring a three person amateur team for the Tuesday, July 12 Joyce Crane Texas State Open Pro-Am.
