Texas freshman Jordan Spieth, a Dallas native who has wowed fans and peers while competing at the last two HP Byron Nelson Championships, was selected today as October’s National Amateur of the Month by the Southern Golf Association. Spieth earned the distinction by winning the recent Isleworth Collegiate title in his third college event with an 11-under-par total, including a competitive course record of 65 in the second round. Spieth led Texas to a 26-stroke victory in the team event while claiming the individual title.
