Officials at the HP Byron Nelson Championship will honor the 100th birthday of the tournament namesake with a special ticket offer, social media campaign and other displays connected to this year’s PGA Tour event in May.
Nelson, the golf legend from Roanoke who died in 2006, would have celebrated his 100th birthday Saturday. As part of this year’s tournament in Irving (May 14-20), Nelson officials are offering a $100 ticket package that will be available online through Feb. 29 and marks a 50 percent savings on retail prices. The $100 price includes four tickets to the tournament, complimentary parking and $20 in food and beverage vouchers. For more information, visit www.hpbnc.org.
In addition, a social media campaign launches today and will continue for the next 100 days _ leading into tournament week _ to provide Nelson-related facts on the tournament’s Facebook page (facebook.com/hpbnc) and Twitter feed (twitter.com/hpbnc). Other tributes are planned during tournament week.
