Ryo Ishikawa, the No. 57 player in the world golf rankings, joins Lucas Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champ, in the latest wave of commitments to the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, May 21-27 in Fort Worth.
Both players committed today, along with Robert Karlsson and John Merrick. Ishikawa, 20, is a heralded Japanese player and four-time Masters competitor who will be making his first appearance at Colonial.
Ishikawa, a nine-time winner on the Japanese Tour, has 10 international victories and placed second at the 2012 Puerto Rico Open, his best career finish in a PGA Tour event. In 2007, he won as a 15-year-old amateur in his debut on the Japanese Tour, becoming the youngest winner in that tour’s history.
Ishikawa (5-foot-9, 155 pounds) turned professional in 2008. In 2009, he led the Japanese Tour in earnings and became the youngest player to crack the top 50 in the world golf rankings. He has earned $501,231 in eight starts at PGA Tour events this season.
