Robert “Bobby” Patton will serve as next year’s tournament chairman for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, officials announced today. Patton, a Fort Worth native and longtime Colonial Country Club member, succeeds predecessor Chuck Scherer, whose three-year stint as tournament chairman ended with the 2012 event. Patton will oversee the tournament through 2015.
Colonial’s dates for next year will be May 20-26, 2013. The event will follow the HP Byron Nelson Championship on the 2013 PGA Tour calendar.
In a statement, Patton said: “It’s quite an honor and privilege to be asked to serve as chairman for this prestigious championship. We have a great team of Colonial members and volunteers that are very experienced at staging world-class golf events, and together we will continue the great traditions of this tournament.”
