Officials from the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial announced charitable contributions of $60,000 to each of four local organizations through the “Charity Foursome” program at this year’s PGA Tour event in May. Organizations receiving donations included Birdies for the Brave, Shelter In a Storm, Cook Children’s Medical Center and The First Tee of Fort Worth. During the tournament, each professional golfer played to benefit one of the four charities and the tournament’s title sponsor, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, donated $100 per birdie and $500 for each eagle. A fan-driven Facebook campaign helped boost the final total.
