Billy Casper, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and a three-time major champion, will receive the Distinguished Sportsman Award tonight from officials at Colonial Country Club.
Casper, winner of 51 PGA Tour events, earned Colonial titles in 1964 and 1968 in addition to his two U.S. Open championships (1959, 1966) and his victory at the 1970 Masters.
Casper, 81, earned PGA Tour Player of the Year honors in 1966 and 1970. He also played on eight U.S. Ryder Cup teams, earning 23.5 points for U.S. teams in his career. Past recipients of Colonial’s Distinguished Sportsman Award include Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Harvey Penick, Gary Player and Lee Trevino.
