Tuesday’s deadline passed with officials holding commitments from 49 of the top 50 players on the LPGA Tour season money list, as well as 93 of the top 100. The tournament, to be played at Las Colinas Country Club, marks the first full-field event for the LPGA in Dallas-Fort Worth since the 1991 U.S. Women’s Open at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.
Park won the season’s first major, the Kraft Nabisco Championship, and Lewis, a native of The Woodlands, was the 2012 LPGA Player of the Year. Other notable names in the field for the $1.3 million event include Saginaw resident Angela Stanford, a former TCU golfer, as well as Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie, Yani Tseng, Natalie Gulbis, Se Ri Pak, Juli Inkster and Morgan Pressel.
Other Texans in the field include Fort Worth resident Heather Bowie Young, Brittany Lang and Gerina Piller.
LPGA commissioner Michael Whan praised the quality of the field for the inaugural Shootout.
“It’s not often that a tournament can boast 49 of the top 50 players,” Whan said. “The people of North Texas will see the absolute best of the best next week.”
Tournament officials still seek volunteers to work at the event. For information, visit www.NTShootout.com or call 214-393-2198. Tickets can be purchased online at www.NTShootout.com.
