Officials at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial have received an award for “Best Use of Players” in its 2013 tournament. PGA Tour officials recognized the Fort Worth stop for its ability to involve competitors in all elements of the tournament, including charity events, social media sessions, special events and functions with the title sponsor.
Andy Pazder, the PGA Tour’s executive vice-president and chief of operations, made the announcement. Colonial tournament chairman Bobby Patton said: “Dating back to Ben Hogan, a large part of the success … each year is a result of the utilization and influence of the players on our event. Having our tournament recognized in this way is quite an honor.”
Dates for next year’s tournament in Fort Worth will be May 19-25, 2014.
