Case Cochran, a former Texas A&M golfer, made a hole-in-one on the fifth playoff hole in Tuesday’s rain-delayed Nelson qualifier in Lewisville to claim the last of four available spots in Thursday’s opening round. Cochran, who posted a 69 to reach the sudden-death playoff, aced the 16th hole at The Lakes at Castle Hills with a 7-iron from 152 yards. That secured a berth in the Nelson field along with Will Strickler (68), the medalist at the qualifier, and two other playoff survivors who also posted rounds of 69: Jason Allred and Chris Thompson. Cochran is the son of former PGA Tour golfer Russ Cochran.
