Adam Scott, the No. 1 player in the world golf rankings, begins his final round at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial at 12:15 p.m. At 5-under-par, he is two strokes off the lead among a crowded leaderboard of Colonial contenders.
Based on today’s finish in Europe by Henrik Stenson (T-7), the No. 2 player in the world rankings, Scott will can finish no worse than alone in 13th place at Colonial and maintain the top spot. Scott, 33, is playing for the first time in his career as the world’s top-ranked golfer.
If Scott shares the 13th spot with others, or falls to 14th or below on the final leaderboard, Stenson will become the new No. 1 in the world rankings when they are updated at the conclusion of today’s professional events.
