Tuesday drive through: Next 3 games should give us a good idea just how good the Stars are

Leeann-tweeden-picture-1Do you remember Fox Sports girl Leeann Tweeden? Yeah ... me neither, but she is posing for Playboy, which she calls empowering. You go girl! Always great to see brains win out from one of the great Hooter's girls of all-time. This is called re-inventing yourself.

........

It's November and you very, very, very likely have no idea that the Dallas Stars professional ice hockey team is off to a very, very, very good start. Like best-in-the-NHL start. The Stars are an NHL-best 10-3-0. First-place in the NHL in November means zero, but this team hasn't been to the playoffs in three years and they need all the points they can get now.

The Stars are healthy, and their goalie is very good.

The amazing part is that among the individual league leaders in points, goals, goals against average, save percentage, assists and shutouts the Stars do not have any player who ranks in the top five.

The only two major categories they feature players who rank in the top five are goalie wins (Kari Lehtonen leads the NHL with 10), and the always vague plus/minus; Sheldon Souray is second at plus-10 and Loui Eriksson is tied for third at plus-9.

Beginning tonight the Stars play three road games that should give us a better idea of how good this team is:

11/8 at Capitals 9-3-0. Caps are 6-0-0 at home and because it's the regular season, they are rolling.

109446094_crop_650x44011/11 at Penguins. 9-3-3. Pens are led by former Stars winger James Neal, and they are winning depsite the fact Crosby has yet to play.

11/12 at Red Wings. 6-5-1. Age may finally be catching the Wings, but this team always seems to have a Jedi mind trick against the Stars.
