Odom hits double figures for the 2nd time this season in loss to Lakers

Tumblr_lxvhx51VO41qm98hmo1_400Someone is arguing the Glee star Lea Michelle's outfit at the Golden Globes went too far. Have to disagree.

... ... ... ... ...

The Lakers' 73-70 win against the Mavericks on Monday night was painful basketball. The Lakers scored 7 points in the third quarter.

A game like this was going to happen, and will again, in this compressed schedule. The Mavs shot 35 percent from the floor, and 4-of-26 from 3-point range. The Mavs have a serious problem in the middle with Brendan Haywood starting; but we knew that going in.

On the upside Ian Mahinmi is developing into a legit NBA center. He finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds on Monday.

But the most disheartening stat was Lamar Odom's 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. That was the second time this season the offseason pickup from the Lakers scored in double figures. Let that sink in: Lamar Odom has scored more than 10 points only two times.

The guy just looks lost right now on the court. The point-forward idea was always silly, but the Mavs should have known you can't have two guys - Dirk and Lamar - on the floor at the same time. The NBA is a slotted league, and Dirk and Lamar play the same spot. And there is a reason why the Lakers basically gave him away for nothing.

Lamar should improve as the season goes on, but the idea that he is going to be a secondary scorer behind Dirk is unrealistic.
