NHL trade deadline today; to move or not to move, Dallas Stars

Columbus+Blue+Jackets+v+Detroit+Red+Wings+1-Kcz9QJANylWhat felt like a near impossibility about one week ago is actually happening - the Stars are on a winning streak. Four and counting, with Pittsburgh coming to town on Wednesday night.

The last time the Stars won four straight was Oct. 29 to Nov. 8.

This has changed everything. The Stars are in eighth place in the Western Conference with 70 points, two up on ninth place L.A., and three back of sixth-place Chicago. Not exactly a lot of security there with 19 games remaining, but it beats the alternative.

Has it changed everything for the Stars?

The NHL's trade deadline is 2 p.m. this afternoon, and the league has been awash in deals. Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash gave his agent the greenlight to look for a deal, but only to a select number of teams.

I fully expect Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk to do nothing splashy or major, and remain a long-term guy has he continues to build this team.
