The Andrew Luck thing apparently was nothing more than elaborate ruse. Very crafty, Jim Irsay.
A little more than 24 hours after the Indianapolis Colts released quarterback Peyton Manning the team has signed what may well be his replacement: Trevor Vittatoe.
According to Jim Irsay's Twitter account, @JimIrsay, "Colts sign free agent quarterback Trevor Vittatoe."
Vittatoe played his high school ball at Euless Trinity before he went to UTEP where it felt like he played about seven years. He finished his career in El Paso after he set nearly every major passing record in school history.
He signed a free agent contract with the Bears last season, didn't make it, and was most recently with the Tampa Bay Storm of the ArenaLeague.
Now he is the heir apparent to one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of football.

Vittatoe isn't as big of a deal as the trade and sign of Eric Dickerson, but it's a BIG deal. Believe it or not, they are not drafting Luck. They are going to trade down and get some picks and make Vittatoe their starter.
BAM! That just happend.
