Just about the time I said the Stars should sell what they have because their chances of putting together a streak to get back into the playoffs looked poor that is when the team decided to do just that.
The Stars defeated the Flames in Calgary on Sunday afternoon, 3-2, in a shootout.
The Stars are 44-0-5 over the past two seasons when leading after two periods. The Stars are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games and with 75 points are in seventh place in the Western Conference. They are three points up on ninth place, which these days means gets your playoff tickets now.
Expect that this is the way it's going to be until the season is over.
Because the Pacific Division is relatively weak, the Stars are are in a relative tie with Phoenix for the third seed; the top three seeds go to the division winners. The Stars have 16 games remaining, only one of which is against an Eastern Conference team; 11 of those games are against teams that are "in the playoffs" as of today.
A team that could not score on an empty net is on a streak of eight consecutive games with at least three goals.

Mac Engel is the biggest fair weather fan I've ever encountered.Your really fast to tear down one of the best teams we have in the metroplex,and even faster to jump on the band wagon when their kickin butt.Are you trying to jinx them.Don't you know not to even talk about the playoff tickets until its time.Look what Laura Miller did to the Mavs.Why don't you keep your big mouth shut.If they miss the playoffs ,we know who's butt to run out of town.YOU BAND WAGON JUMPIN TURD!
