ARLINGTON - Add to this "Wow, was I wrong" file, which is now up to its third volume.
When I heard the Texas Rangers were going to build a statue of Shannon Stone my thought was, "Wonderful intention, but not sure how this works."
Stone was the 39-year-old firefighter from Brownwood, Texas who tragically died last July after a fall when reaching for a ball at the Ballpark. He was with his 6-year-old-son, Cooper, at the game.
My fear was the statue would be awkward. It's not. Placed in front of the gate at home plate, the statue not only works as a tribute to Stone but to the classic image of a dad taking his kid to a baseball game.
