Led Zeppelin getting back together ... kind of

This does not mean they are really getting back together to make more money, but Led Zeppelin will reunite to accept an award.

The Kennedy Center has announced it will recognize Led Zeppelin along with a handful of other performers in December.

The other recipients include Buddy Guy, Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman and ballerina Natalia Makarova.
The Big Mac Blog is expected to be recognized by the Kennedy Center in 2013. Or maybe it's 4013 ... one or the other.

CBS will air the presentation at 8 p.m. CT on Dec. 26.

Kennedy Center chairman David M. Rubenstein said of Zeppelin in a release: "Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant transformed the sound of rock and roll with their lyricism and innovative song structures, infusing blues into the sound of rock and roll and laying the foundation for countless rock bands."

Does this mean the band is getting back together? Highly, highly doubtful. Even though it would mean hundreds of millions of dollars as an aging fan base reunites to feel young again for a couple of hours.

The last time the remaining members of Led Zeppelin assembled to perform was for charity at a show in 2007 in London's O2 arena. For fans of the band the good news is that show is about ready to be released in movie theaters, and eventually on Blu Ray and DVD.

The "movie" should hit theaters on Oct. 17. Click here for a list of the theaters the movie will be showing listed on LedZeppelin.com. According to this, it should be available at several theaters in the greater Fort Worth/Dallas area.
