Forward Dirk Nowitzki had minor surgery on his right knee. The team said in a release that Dirk can resume to on-court activities in about six weeks. Dirk has played in one preseason game - in Berlin on Oct. 6 - before the knee started to cause him some real trouble and forced him to sit out.
The Mavs have four more fake NBA games before the regular season begins on Tuesday, Oct. 30 against the Lakers in Los Angeles.
According to the calendar, Dirk could resume to basketball around the end of November and the first of December. The return from this surgery, the first of his NBA career, is between three to six weeks.
Just assume he is going to miss the first month of the regular season, and about 16 games, before he returns.
It's amazing Dirk, 34, lasted this long without a surgery before this.
Now, as to who scores for this team in his absence ... O.J. Mayo, Chris Kaman, Elton Brand and maybe even Rodrigue Beaubois.
