IRVING, Texas - Easily, and justifiably, lost in the latest Dallas Cowboys' defeat was the triumphant return of tight end Jason Witten from the dead.
It was about one month ago when after three games Witten looked more like a guy who was nearly done rather than one of the NFL's best tight ends. He was drop city. He had eight catches after three games.
In the past two games, he has 19 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown.
"It's on going. I never thought too much about that," Witten told me today. "That's what you guys were saying (that he had lost it). It wasn't that I thought that one bit. You have to prove it. There are a lot of good tight ends out there and I think I am one of them."
The problem is while Witten's numbers are recovering, both of his best games came in losses so ... who cares?

Witten will be fine. He still has plenty left in the tank. Every player, good and bad, has spells when they don't play as well as they should. The Cowboys are lucky to have him.

I agree. Witten still has the stuff to play with the funky bunch.

He has had some drops but he is surely in top half of TE's in The League. He comes to play. Not every catch is going to be a touchdown. Dallas has far bigger problems than Jason.
