Call Senator Craig James - Mike Leach is at it again

Marquess-WIlsonEntering play on Saturday the Washington State Cougars were 2-7 overall and 0-6 in the Pac-12 in their first season under former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. This sounds pretty typical of Washington State football.

Cougar WR Marquess Wilson has let it be known he is not a fan of Pirate football. This week Wilson was suspended for violating a team rule; he reportedly walked out on a conditioning test after WSU's 49-6 loss against Utah on Nov. 3.

On Saturday, Wilson left the team and issued a statement to the Visalia Times-Delta newspaper in California. Click here for this story.  Wilson is from that area.

He wrote:

“Dear Cougar Nation:

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision to forgo playing football for Washington State University. I realize the school is saying that I am suspended for violating team policies and may return next week, but this is a lie. This is an attempt by the athletic department to cover up what is really happening in that locker room.

“It is been a privilege to be a Cougar, to perform on your field and wear the Crimson and Gray. I would like to thank Washington State University for giving me the opportunity to do what I love most, to play football and receive a quality education for the past three years. I’m grateful to the athletic department for the coaching, care and encouragement I have received prior to this season.

“This was going to be our year. My teammates and I were aspiring to be the winning team you deserve. Unfortunately for all, the new coaching staff has destroyed that endeavor. I believe coaches have a chance to mold players, to shape men, to create greatness. However, the new regime of coaches has preferred to belittle, intimidate and humiliate us. This approach has obviously not been successful, and has put a dark shadow on this program.

Wsu_3_t940“My teammates and I have endured this treatment all season long. It is not “tough love”. It is abuse. This abuse cannot be allowed to continue. I feel it is my duty to stand up and shed light on this situation by sacrificing my dreams, my education and my pride. I resign from this team. I am deeply sorry to those I am letting down. I am not a quitter. I was raised by my family, and many previous coaches to exhibit dedication and embrace sacrifice, but there comes a time when one has to draw a line in the sand.

“Lastly, I thank my fellow teammates, those who also have left the program this year, and those we are leaving behind. I hope our departure will bring awareness to the physical, emotional and verbal abuse being allowed in the locker room and on the field. I pray for healing and recovery for all those who have been hurt by this treatment

Marquess Wilson”

You know Craig James, his son Adam, and a whole lot of Texas Tech administrators are laughing over this.

This is the way new coaches often operate in an effort to essentially run off players they don't want, and to let the current group know there are no handouts.

Washington State and Leach have not commented yet.

Mike Leach is a bully and a thug and he should be fired immediately and never ever be given a coaching position in football. He will probably be hired at ESPN as an analyst.

If you read the actual deposition of Adam James, he is not a thug. In fact, he states that he wasn't "locked in a room" as his father reported. There wasn't even a lock on the door. He told his dad not to do anything. Nothing was done until he was bumped to third string. Then the allegations of abuse came.

He is the victim of helicopter parents. What I am seeing of this case it is the same thing. The player wasn't offended until his stepfather told him he should be. This all came up after he lost his starting position.

The trend is that if you don't get the play time you want, lodge a complaint. Do a web search for the Adam James deposition. You get a totally different viewpoint when you see what happened as he told the courts. Bully? Not at all. In fact, in the entire deposition he states at no time was he spoken to by Mike Leach. In fact it was the trainer.

It may seem bad, but to me that Mike Leach is a marked man. If you get pissed report him so you can get your play time back.

Well let Mike Leach build a winner for you at Washington State, it takes time and reality that some players just don't belong on the team ie look at the past several year..Thats why you hired him. Get rid of the fat, lazy and entitled bunch of no good players and install someone that earns their position and is not on the Country Club Regime like say for example the Dallas Cowboys. This guy will build a winner look in his first year he beat Washington!!! Hello people the proofs in the pudding. Now let him buy the ingriedients for the next several years and ya'll will be eating out of the Rose Bowl.
