Awesome pizza coming to Fort Worth

This has taken a bit longer than originally scheduled, but the greatness that is Campisi's is coming very soon to Fort Worth. Like April.

The pizza place that was for years just a Dallas thing is finally expanding over into Fort Worth.

Took a look at the interior today and the crews are coming along nicely. This restaurant is currently accepting applications, etc.

If you have never been to a Campisi's, be sure to try it when it opens. It's greatness.

Fill out your Pope brackets!

The Pope's Twitter account, @Pontifex is scheduled to remain running. WIN! In what appears to be Benedict's final Tweet, he wrote: "Thank you for your love and support. May you always experience the joy that comes from putting Christ at the centre of your lives."

He apparently removed a Twitter message earlier that read: "Did you see Steph Curry drop 54 at the Garden?! OMG!"

Today, the Pope Benedict XVI retired from the Vatican, off to a life of bingo, 4 p.m. dinners, mid-morning naps, and full-contact shuffleboard while watching the Weather Channel.

As scheduled, Pope Benedict spent his last day as pope after eight fun-filled "controversy" free years. You know that scene had to be off the chain.

While his Twitter account will remain up, no word on whether the new Pope will have a Facebook account, My Space and or use Four Square to let us know when he's checked in at Starbucks.

Sportsbooks are setting odds at his successor. Not kidding. According to at least one site, go hard on Angelo Scola. He is an Italian Cardinal, and apparently has an unblockable fadeaway jumper. The knock is he can't go to this left.

Fun with Tyson Chandler & other significant Dallas Maverick dates

The beards are growing increasingly longer these days on the faces of the Dallas Mavericks, which means this season is that much closer to draft lottery status.

The Mavs blew a 25-point lead in Memphis on Wednesday night to lose.

It was the fourth-largest blown lead in team history. So they have that going for them, which is nice. 

In the third quarter, the team was 2-for-17 with seven turnovers.

On the same night, former Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler had one of those nights you kinda wish maybe the Mavs had re-signed him. Maybe.

In New York City, Chandler scored 16 points with 28 rebounds in a Knicks' win against the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry dropped 54 on NYC, including 11-of-13 from 3.

While Chandler was grabbing 28 rebounds, the Mavs had 34 rebounds total in Memphis.

Herschel Walker alert - the 49ers are Cowboying the 2013 NFL draft

With an appearance in the 2011 NFC title game followed by a narrow loss in this year's Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers are this close to becoming the most dominant team in the NFC. 

Now they have the draft picks to go all Cowboys on this decade. And they didn't even need Minnesota Vikings GM Mike Lynn to do it.

Today the 49ers have dealt the former No. 1 overall pick, quarterback Alex Smith, to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs love them some backup quarterbacks.

The 49ers will not have a whopping 15 draft picks in the 2013 NFL draft, with five of those coming in the first three rounds. This will be the most draft picks for any one team since the league went to eight rounds in 1993.

This smells a little like the Dallas Cowboys dealing Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 12, 1989.
The Cowboys sent Herschel Walker to the Vikings for LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard and DE Alex Stewart. There were also included in that deal six draft picks, (conditional 1st and 2nd rounds in '90 and '91; 1st round and conditional 3rd in '92.

The Cowboys moved several of these picks after this deal, and by the end the Cowboys landed: 
RB Emmitt Smith, DT Russell Maryland, CB Kevin Smith, S Darren Woodson, CB Clayton Holmes

With the talent they already have, and this influx of draft picks, the 49ers are in a position to own the NFC for a while.

Marquise Goodwin, future Oakland Raider

The NFL combine is done, and now we can proceed to listening to all of the lies and minimalizations of the 2013 rookie class by draft experts, scouts and NFL coaches and general managers.

Among the most curious of prospects is University of Texas WR Marquise Goodwin. He is only 5-foot-10, 175 pounds but he is stupid fast. 

In Indianapolis during the combine, Goodwin recorded a 4.27 in the 40-yard dash, the fastest of any player at this non-event event. 

This season in Austin, Goodwin carried the ball 13 times for 167 yards (net 140) with three touchdowns. He averaged 10.8 yards per carry. He ranked third on the team in receptions with 26 for 340 yards and three touchdowns.

Can someone explain why Mack Brown didn't get the football more to this man?

Is there a direct correlation between a fast 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and future success on the football field in the National Football League?

Goodwin's 4.27 is the second-fastest time in the 40 at the combine since 2006. It all but ensures he will play for the Oakland Raiders.

Here is a look at the fastest 40 times since 2006, and the respective careers.

1. Chris Johnson, 2008, 4.24 ... RB drafted 24th in the 1st round. Has played in every game but one since his rookie year in 2008. In that time he's rushed for 6,888 yards with 44 TDs and averaged 4.7 yards per carry.

2. Jacoby Ford, 2010, 4.28 ... KR drafted in the 4th round by the Oakland Raiders. Used primarily as a kick returner. Returned four kicks for TDs between '10 and '11. Spent last season with Raiders but did not play.

3. DeMarcus Van Dyke, 2011, 4.28 ... DB drafted in 3rd round by the Raiders. Played in 14 games for the Raiders in '11 and had one INT. Spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers where he played in nine games.

4. Yamon Figurs, 2007, 4.30 ... WR drafted in the 3rd round by the Baltimore Ravens. Was in the NFL from '07 to '10 and played for Ravens, Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Bucs, Cleveland Browns and Raiders. Appeared in a total of 34 games and used almost exclusively as a returner.

5. Darrius Heyward-Bey, 2009, 4.30 ... WR drafted 7th overall by Raiders. Has played in 56 games with Raiders; has 140 receptions with 2,071 yards and 11 TDs.

6. Tye Hill, 2006, 4.30 ... DB drafted 15th overall by the St. Louis Rams. Played 3 seasons for the Rams before spending '09 with the Atlanta Falcons and '10 with the Detroit Lions. Appeared in a total of 40 NFL games.

7. Tyvon Branch, 2008, 4.31 ... DB drafted by the Raiders in fourth round. Has appeared in 70 games, including 61 starts, for the Raiders from 2008 through the '12 season.

8. Johnathan Joseph, 2006, 4.31 ... DB drafted 24th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. Was a starter for the Bengals from '06 to '10. Has spent the last two seasons as a starter for the Houston Texans.

9. Justin King, 2008, 4.31 ...DB drafted in the 4th round by the Rams. Spent three seasons with the Rams; split last season with the Indianapolis Colts and Steelers.

10. Jason Hill, 2007, 4.32 ... WR drafted in the 3rd round by the San Francisco 49ers. Spent three season with the 49ers. Played in 6 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars in '10 and all of the '11 season. Appeared in three games in '12 for the New York Jets.

Buy a ticket for Andy Dalton's charity event in FW

Anything Andy Dalton is all good. The former TCU Horned Frogs quarterback, who should have his number retired by the school by now, will be hosting a charity event soon so it's time to spread the word and buy a ticket to attend an event that will benefit the Andy and Jordan Dalton Foundation.

At 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4 at Texas de Brazil in downtown Fort Worth Dalton's foundation will host a "steak out" with proceeds benefiting his charity.  The Andy and Jordan Dalton Foundation provide opportunities, support and resources to children and families in need in Cincinnati and Fort Worth. 

Guests will have the chance to meet Dalton, get an autograph, and dine on the greatness that is Texas de Brazil. TCU stuff will be on sale on site. According to the press release, no outside memorabilia will be allowed in.

About time - NHL realignment will put Dallas Stars in central time zone

One of the biggest disadvantages the Dallas Stars, and Texas Rangers, have is they both play in divisions that are primarily located on the West Coast. Team travel for the Stars from Love Field in Dallas can be a beating.

That should change soon as the NHL is finally moving forward with a plan to dramatically alter the current six-team division format, and the playoff pairings as well.

As much as NHL boss Gary Bettman liked the six-team conference format, because it meant six different markets were in first place, the current logistics of the East and West increasingly made less sense. 

According to Elliotte Friedman of CBS's "Hockey Night in Canada" the league is proposing a Mid-West Division in the Western Conference. It would be:

Chicago Blackhawks
Colorado Avalanche
Dallas Stars
Minnesota Wild
Nashville Predators
St. Louis Blues
WInnipeg Jets 

The only team to jump conferences would be the Detroit Red Wings, which would be in the Central Division in the East. A lot of NHL owners can't like the prospect of losing a home date against the big-draw Red Wings, but ... conference realignment is a must.

This new alignment would be a tremendous improvement for the Stars, which for years has had to travel to California to play the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks for a division game. The Stars' closest division rival is the Phoenix Coyotes.

This new format would mean the Stars would play division rivals that are less than a two-hour flight.

The playoffs would be the top three teams in each division. The remaining four spots would go to wild card teams.  Read more here from TSN.ca on the specifics of this new plan.
