The Big Mac Blog talks to the cheerleader who made that insane halfcourt shot

If you have not made the rounds on YouTube to see the greatest halfcourt shot ever made, look no more. Watch this:

Her name is Ashlee Arnau, and she is a cheerleader at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The nursing major also plays for the school's women's soccer team.

Ashlee_arnau_208_wsoOn Thursday night, Arnau made this shot at halftime of a home men's basketball game. She was nice enough to answer my call to talk about this incredible shot.

UPDATE: 1 p.m. CT - Her college soccer coach, Dannny Owens, emailed me and said that she is flying out to do the Today Show on Sunday and that the Jimmy Kimmel called and wants to fly her out. He also said she was working with someone from the Harlem Globetrotters trying to teach him this shot and made it again this morning.

Ashlee Arnau: "I usually do this (as a throw-in) on a soccer field. Nothing goes on at halftime (during the men's basketball games). I was really bored. I just did it on a whim. I told my cheerleader friends, 'You just stand under the goal in case the ball misses.'

"I had tried it once before and it went in but it bounced. This was the first time I had tried it and it went straight in. I was really surprised I made it. I think I had tried it about four or five times and it can be really frustrating because it's so tiring.

The Big Mac Blog: When you have attempted this move have you ever flubbed it?
Ashlee Arnau: Not during cheerleading but for soccer yes. I have missed the ball completely and fell backwards.

The Big Mac Blog: So how as your life changed since making this great shot?
Ashlee Arnau: Celebrity status (she laughs). Not really. Everyone has called to congratulate me. I made my family proud.
