Mavericks sign a guy with MS (not a joke)

80269776_crop_650x440The Dallas Mavericks are certainly not a charity case - OK, Raef LaFrentz was, but moving on ... - the team today signed point guard Chris Wright to a 10-day contract.

If Wright plays, he will become the first man to play an NBA game who has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Wright played at Georgetown and was undrafted in 2011. He spent much of that season in Turkey.

Wright had been with the Iowa Energy of the D-League this season. In 38 games for the Energy, Wright averaged 15.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7 assists. He was an All-Star in that league.

He was diagnosed with the disease not long after his pro career began.

Even if he does not actually make it into a game the fact that he has made it this far with this illness is inspiring.
