This is why we sing the National Anthem before sporting events

460xTo those who have ever complained silently or aloud about having to stand and listen to the National Anthem before a sporting event, please take a few minutes to watch this video.

This video is from the pregame of the Buffalo Sabres game at the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night in Boston. It includes the tribute to the Bostonians and responders to the bombings at Monday's Boston Marathon, as well as one of the most stirring covers of the National Anthem ever recorded.

See for yourself.

After the game, former Dallas Stars and current Sabres center Steve Ott Tweeted: "This is what sports is all about. What a emotional experience to be part of."

Hard not to get a little choked up watching this, and it's another reminder there is a reason we will forever stand and sing before every game. We're not a perfect country and we have our differences, but we are all in this together forever.
