In search of the world's greatest breakfast burrito

IMG_2237MALIBU, California - One of the great drives in the United States that should be at least partially completed by every living American is the Pacific Coast Highway - or Highway 1. The drive is not especially fast, but the views of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean coastline never fail to soothe your nerves.

Along the drive are any number of potential perfect tourist spots, and more importantly food.

At the suggest of The Google Machine I stopped in Malibu, California en route from LAX to Oxnard, Calif. in hopes of finding what may be one of the greatest challenges in cuisine - the perfect breakfast burrito.

What makes a good breakfast burrito? It's undefinable, but you only know it when you taste it.

My search took me here - Lily's Cafe & Pastries, which is located in a chi-chi strip center in Malibu. This is a place you have to know that is here in order to find it. The decor is not going to blow you away, which is always a good sign.

The locales all suggested the breakfast burrito, and it did not disappoint.

It's loaded with crisp bacon, scrambled eggs and refried beans. Swearing I would only eat half was a good idea until I finished the whole thing.

If you are ever in the area, or do the drive along the PCH, this is as good of a breakfast burrito as God could make.

got to get lucky

You are nuts. If you are on the west coast; maybe as close as the rockies, you should drop by. Best damn burrito I've ever eaten. It's mother's milk.
