One thing I hate about sports journalism is the shameless use of pictures of cheerleaders to increase subscriptions or web traffic. I won't do it. Unless news happens. Or it's Wednesday. Or a Tuesday.
In this case, the LSU v. TCU game features two of the most respected, and feared, cheerleading squads in this great country.
Which is better? It depends on where you're from, but we have a a website called College Cheerhaven that says TCU is No. 1. According to this list, LSU is No. 5. It's on the Internet so it must be true.
In the middle of this first photo of a three TCU Showgirls is Ms. Katarina Royder, who is featured here in a spread by SI.com.
And on the far left is recent TCU graduate Lauren Jancoski. Her thoughts on why TCU is better than LSU, and everyone else, in this crucial category:
"TCU is No. 1 for multiple reasons," she wrote me in an exclusive, breaking interview. "Not only are the girls beautiful on the outside, but their hard work and dedication to the team also shine through each and every game. We put in hard work all year long and it shows in our routines, presentation, and overall appearance."
They do? OK. Sounds good. Keep going. This next part is dead on, 100 % accurate:
"It's no lie that we have been killing it for years, and I think all of the college football nation recalls the evening of the Fiesta Bowl. Maybe not for TCU taking home the W, but for the Showgirls taking up almost half of the airtime," she wrote. "From then we have proven not only can we look good while crying, but that our strong routines, school spirit, and notorious cowgirl uniforms are the best of the best! If you still disagree, just let the boots do the talking!"
The girl has a point.
