Colonial hoping to land a Bubba for the tournament

The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial is just a bit more than one month away, and the tournament is trying to land that big name that can move the needle.

6a00e54f7fc4c5883301a3fceece3e970b-300wiTiger Woods, who is hurt, will only play Colonial if you put a gun to his head. That may not even work.
His royal highness Mr. Phil Mickelson does not sound like he's coming back, even though he has won this tournament before.

So it would be nice if Bubba made his way to Fort Worth. On Sunday, for the second time in his career, Bubba Watson won the Masters.

Colonial's tournament director, Michael Tothe, told me he has every intention of reaching out to Bubba's agent in about a week to see if he may come back to Fort Worth to play Colonial for the first time since 2008. That year Bubba tied for 72nd. The other time Bubba played Colonial was '06, when he missed the cut.

Among the list of players who have committed to play Colonial this year are - Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Vijay Singh, Jordan Speith and Rickie Fowler. Tothe said they are expecting Jason Day to play this year's tournament.
