Orlando Scandrick, Draya & the stupidity of social media

Draya-Michele-and-Orlando-Scandrick-attends-the-Non-Stop-PremiereOXNARD, Calif. - Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick fell on no less than 3,445 swords on Tuesday after it was announced he will be suspended four games for violatings the NFL's substance abuse policy.

He admitted he took a banned substance during a trip out of the country in April, and that he took it himself. He said it was a methamphetamine.

"I simply made a mistake. It was a dumb mistake," he said as he repeatedly apologized.

Before he made these comments to the media after the Cowboys' walk through on Tuesday morning, the social media world ran wild with rumors that he was drugged by his on-off girlfriend, Draya Michele. She is a star of the TV show Basketball Wives. And, yes, I watch this show religiously. And, yes, these two people are "on".

Draya has been getting killlllllled on Twitter by fans who believe she drugged Scandrick as part of an elaborate scheme to get him suspended.

"To clear up those rumors - I was not persuaded, and I was not drugged. I simply made a bad choice," Scandrick said.

Michele Tweeted (@DrayaFace): "Sources' say I drugged this man. People have written statements taking responsibility for their actions. Never once blaming me."

She also wrote "I'm not to blame. I've been supporting him since April when this happened. And I will continue to support him."

Such is the reality of the rapid time world of social media. It's a wonderful tool to spread the word, and a vicious knife when the message is wrong.

Clearly these two were partying it up, and he took something he should not have. The end.
