It’s official. Jerry Stackhouse’s three-year deal to return to the Mavericks is done, the team announced Friday.
The total contract could be worth more than $21 million. Stackhouse, 32, enters his fourth season as the Mavs’ sixth man and his 13th in the league.
The 6-6 swingman played in 67 games last season, averaging 12.0 points, 2.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 24.1 minutes. He shot a career-high 38.3 percent from the 3-point line.
His leadership and toughness are assets Mavs coach Avery Johnson said he wanted back on the team.

This is a good news for Mavs' fans. I really feel Stack is as valuable as Josh for this team. But, alarmingly, the Mavs haven't addressed their PG situation. I mean, yeah, they will be giving reigns to Devin this season. But, what happens when Devin is in foul trouble which happens more often than not. Does this mean that they are comfortable with JJ Barea as the backup PG? I can't really wait till the season starts to see all this and to see how the Mavs and Avery and Dirk in particular will bounce back from being thoroughly outplayed. But, having said that, I feel Mavs are really deep and I hope this version can finally get over the San Antonios, Phoenixes and Warriors!!!
