It doesn't rank up there with an MVP award, but Dirk Nowitzki was named to the EuroBasket07 All-tournament team. He was one of four NBA players on the team. Others were Andrei Kirilenko of the Jazz and Russia, Pau Gasol of the Grizzlies and Spain, Jose Calderon of the Raptors and Spain, and Lithuanian Ramunas Siskauskas, who has played for several teams in Europe and will play in Moscow this season. (FYI: Siskauskas is regarded as one of the top players in Europe and is called "The Baltic Pippen" because he plays in much the same way as Scottie Pippen.)
Nowitzki led Germany to a fifth place finish in the tournament. Germany will have one more chance to qualify for the Olympics next summer when a 12-team tournament is held among teams that have not yet qualified. Three teams will earn Olympic berths from that tournament.
