Could Darrell Armstrong be on his way back to the Mavs? Don't rule it out. The Pacers released the 39-year-old spark plug who became a fan favorite here for his fired-up play, taking a charge here or hitting a big shot there in his limited playing time.
He was also a huge hit in the locker room, a solid presence who kept the room light, but all about the business at hand. D.A. was an Avery player all the way, a hard-working son-of-a-gun who had to work doubly hard for everything he accomplished in the league -- like playing overseas and everywhere else before making it.
After a 48-hour waiting period to clear waivers, NBA teams, selecting in order of worst-to-best record can pick him up. So, if no one else wants him, don't be shocked if D.A. joins the Mavs on a non-guaranteed contract and gives it one last shot before retirement.
