NBA discipline czar Stu Jackson was none too happy with Avery Johnson's delayed departure after being tossed from Friday night's game at Indiana. Jackson on Monday came down hard on Johnson, fining the Mavs coach $25,000.
In a statement, the league said the fine Johnson failed to leave the court in a timely manner and for verbal abuse of a game official -- one Bennett Salvatore.
Johnson got the boot with 8:34 left in the 111-107 loss to the Pacers.
