Brandon Bass' free throws have been a bit out of the ordinary.
He leads the league in free-throw percentage with a perfect 100% on 18 attempts. He is tied with Josh Childress, Steve Nash and Darius Songaila who have also been perfect. Nash is the only one who has attempted more, and he has only attempted 19.
What's most odd is that he hasn't show a propensity to shoot free throws all that well in the past. He's been average at best. In his sophomore (and final) year at LSU, he attempted a team-high 146 free throws but shot them at a mundane 77 percent. Nothing particular to get excited about. His freshman year he attempted a team-high 123 at 78.3 percent.
He only attempted 35 free throws in two seasons With the Hornets, shooting them at 68.6 percent. unusually
So, don't get too excited about Bass leading the league in free-throw percentage for the rest of the season. The other foot will drop pretty soon. Hey, at least you can look forward to him attempting plenty more with his aggressive style of play. But, you can probably expect him to make 3 out of 4 attempts once he settles down and averages out.
