Don't hate on the Diddy Greens

For whatever reason, I have heard several people comment on how the Mavs always seem to lose in their Diddy-designed Green uniforms. Given, their last appearance in them before tonight was an exhausting double-overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns on March 14 last year—one of the most memorable Mavs regular-season games in recent memory. Don’t let the drama of that night blind you though, the Mavs do just fine with “Mavs” on the front of their jerseys.

Since the uniforms debuted on Nov.19, 2004, the Mavs have gone 19-7 in the Diddy Greens.That loss to Phoenix last year was actually their first home loss in those uniforms. They are now 3-1 at home, 16-6 on the road and 19-7 overall before tonight's game. That’s a winning percentage of .731, which is slightly less than their win percentage of .751 in regular uniforms since they debuted the Diddy Greens. I guess that means they are worse with the Greens than without them.

But wait, that stat is skewed since most of their games in the Greens have been on the road. Since they debuted, they have a road winning percentage of .690 without the Greens and a road winning percentage of .727 with them. So there. Greens=good. Stop hating on them, they don’t bring bad luck despite your personal opinions about their aesthetic.
