The first half was decent for the Mavericks, despite being down by 4 at the half. As expected, they outrebounded the Warriors 27-19 and were 14 of 15 from the free throw line while Golden State was a miserable 5 of 12.
Turnovers were a problem as the Warriors only committed 4 compared to the Mavericks 9.
Keys to the second half
- Contain Baron Davis. He scored 18 points in the first half to lead all scorers and go to the hoop too often hitting 5 of 7 layups.
- Keep using Brandon Bass. He had a very productive first half scoring 10 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. With Gana Diop in early foul trouble, Bass was able to show what he can do.
- Dirk needs to keep attacking. Once he gets inside, he's getting fouled. If the referees are giving it to him, keep exploiting it.
- Harris and Howard push the fast break. The Mavs have succeeded when those two can showcase their athleticism in the open court.
