With all the talk of Dirk Nowitzki's slow start, it's nice for him to finally get a solid game under his belt, even if it's against a dumpy team like the Knicks. What's most encouraging is that his three pointers were falling tonight, something he has struggled mightily with thus far. He went 3 of 5 on the night from deep, compared to shooting 28.6 percent prior to this game. It's also the first time he has surpassed 35 points since Feb. 13 last season against Milwaukee.
With the Mavs' other main pistons firing sharply so far this season, it's obvious that much of the Mavericks struggles lie with their reigning MVP. If he can get into last season's form, it's very likely these early season stumbles will become fewer and farther between and the season's slow start can be a distant memory. Of course, you can't play the Knicks every night.
