So much for a quick recovery for Erick Dampier's swollen left knee. It's a little strange that Avery Johnson declared him as "fine" after Thursday's practice and now the big man will miss his second consecutive game.
Before Friday's game against the Heat, his knee was indeed swollen, but even Dampier at the time said it was no big deal and he was quite hopeful of playing today at Minnesota. He didn't even make the trip.
It's got to make Johnson crazy. Now that Dampier has been putting out some pretty consistent efforts and even becoming something of a weapon offensively, at least something defenses had to take note of from time to time, he's out.
The lone bright spot is that maybe it jumpstarts struggling DeSagana Diop. Diop got the start on Friday and played 34 minutes. Seriously, that's more than he played in a couple weeks combined before that.
