Winston Salem, N.C. mayor Allen Joines on Thursday announced a city-wide voting push to elect longtime Winston-Salem residents Josh Howard and Hornets point guard Chris Paul to the All-Star team.
Both former Wake Forest All-Americans are definitely worthy of All-Star consideration. The mayor wants their hometown community to help out.
"Chris and Josh have made it a priority to invest in the Winston-Salem community," Joines said in a press release. "They have both given so much to Winston-Salem that spearheading an All-Star voting campaign for them in their hometown seemed fitting."
Howard, the Mavs' fifth year small forward, sponsors a free basketball camp every summer at Reynolds Park Recreation Center.
"I am very excited to hear the news that Winston-Salem is launching an All-Star voting push for Chris and me," Howard said. "To see your hometown community standing behind you and showing their support is a great feeling."
