Part of the Mavericks' early season problems was that they seemed to let up against weaker teams. They readily admit they've lost some games they probably could have won. So this road trip is a good test if they're really as focused as coach Avery Johnson thinks his team has become.
The Mavs begin a three-game West Coast road swing Friday against Seattle, at L.A. Clippers on Saturday and at Sacramento on Monday. Entering Thursday's games, only Sac had a winning record at home, 9-8.
"Fortunately, we are starting to look like the Mavericks that I anticipated," Johnson said. "If we can keep looking like the Mavericks that we’ve been looking like here recently, then I think we can keep getting better. And that’s what we’re focusing on. We haven't really talked about winning and losing as much as we’ve talked about gettinig better in all aspects of our game and trying to make sure we don't have multiple errors."
