Devin Harris was at shootaround this morning, wearing his high-top sneaker and not a boot on his injured left foot. That's the good news.
The bad news is the bone bruise on his ankle remains quite sore when he puts pressure on it.
"I wanted to kick him on the ankle, would that have been good?" coach Avery Johnson joked. "He's looking good and he's been working awfully hard on the underwater treadmill and the bike, and lifting. He actually started to get some biceps. I was happy to see him. I even gave him a big hug. Can you believe that?"
Harris said he hopes in a few days to get on the hardwood and do some light work. He's still expected to miss the remainder of the games leading into the All-Star break and then after that it will be just a matter of time until he's healed up and comfortable to play.
He said he'll travel with the team when they leave Saturday for back-to-back games at New Jersey -- wonder if he'll chat with Jason Kidd about fond trade rumor memories -- and Philadelphia.
Last week, right after Harris hurt his ankle, the Kidd-to-Dallas trade rumor exploded and it had Harris headed to Portland in a three-team deal. Harris said he just had to listen and wait. He said no one from the team called him to tell him that he wasn't going anywhere.
"Like everybody else," Harris said, "I'm a spectator in the madness."
